Alison, love this post! I was a stay-home dad for 10 years and, of course, still face the rigors of the "get-out" almost every morning.

Especially loved point #6 -- distractions. Unrealistic, perhaps, to look for the family cohesion we create around the dinner table, in the a.m. BUT, even if for just a few minutes, we want to create the sense that we, the family, help one another get ready to go our separate ways and be productive, successful, fulfilled.

NO ELECTRONICS in the morning. Goes for mom and dad too!. No email, no Crackberry, no television. Leave the radio off. You can listen on the way to work in the car when you're alone.

Believe it or not, mornings can be peaceful, productive and great times for bonding and preparing for the day. Thanks!
