Designing a Dining Area You Will Actually Eat In…

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

Sitting down for a meal at the table seems to be less and less common these days. Family members eat at different times, we eat on the go, or meals are served in front of the television. But treating yourself, and/or your family, to a meal at the table is a great way to encourage conversation, relaxation, healthy eating habits, and appreciation of food. (more…)

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

Starting and maintaining a fitness routine can be challenging, particularly when you’re a parent and have little time for yourself or you have a demanding job. When having difficulties committing to a workout, many people hire a trainer or join a gym for support, but before you do, try turning to your home for support. The following tips will help you commit to your fitness routine.

Many of us rarely take the time to sit down and enjoy a meal these days. And when we try to add kids to the picture, it can be even more challenging. There are some dinners where my children (and let’s be honest, my husband too) are up and down so many times that I want to give up. Yet, I know that taking the time to sit down and share a meal is important to the well being of our family. A healthy meal with people we love in beautiful surroundings nurtures our relationships, bodies, and spirits and can make our lives feel rich and abundant.  Here are a few suggestions for keeping your family at the table:

About Our Blog

Forbes

Welcome to our blog Peaceful Homes, Peaceful Lives.

This blog is about bringing a new awareness to your home and life. Our intention is to awaken a deeper consciousness that will inspire peaceful living.

It is our belief that peace begins at home; in yourself and in the little everyday moments.  By changing your inner world–the way you think about your home and life–you will naturally make changes in your outer world–your physical surroundings, your relationships, career and choices. We hope to inspire you from the inside out so your daily life is infused with greater intention, purpose and peace.

We are sisters and co-owners of The Art of Everyday Living a home and lifestyle consulting company. We are also co-authors of the book, The Peaceful Nursery; Preparing a Home for your Baby. We have a second blog, Mom to Mom Wisdom and Children’s Wisdom is in the works. If you would like to learn more about us, please click here.

Over the years we have created, and continue to evolve, a way of living that is based on the following beliefs:

- Our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being is connected to the health and well-being of our homes.
- Our homes are a reflection of our consciousness; therefore we can change our lives by changing our homes.
- Home is a place in consciousness as much as it is a physical space.
- We feel most at home and at peace when both our inner- and outer-worlds are aligned.
- Everyone and everything are connected, so by creating a conscious lifestyle and home, your positive intentions will enhance your life, your children’s lives, and the lives of those around you.
- It’s the little, everyday moments that make up our lives, so change can begin at home, in ourselves, as we go about our daily tasks.
- By bringing awareness and intention to everyday task there is potential for spirituality in each and every moment.
- The intention and energy that we bring to the process is as, or more, important than the result.
- More and more people are searching for deeper meanings and connections, in their careers, with their friends and family, and within their home. As a result, the traditional notions of a homemaker are being reshaped and redefined as people create and discover their own path to establishing the home and lifestyle of their dreams.
- By bringing peace, organization, and beauty into your home using healthy, sustainable materials, you are also bringing those same qualities into your life.
